2016 is winding down and I’d like to go out with a strong finish. Once again I’m thinking about doing a 100 day challenge to close out the year. A challenge is always easier when you can get/give support to someone else who is also working towards a goal. So I’m throwing it out to you- my loyal reader J, those of you who follow but don’t comment and those of you who stumbled across this blog today. Please join me – think of some goal you want to accomplish, a habit you want to start, a habit you want to get rid of, anything at all – and make the commitment to do something for 100 days straight.
Start thinking about your choices. For me the options are – letting go of 100 things, committing to 5 minutes of meditation daily, walking at least five miles a day, and/or spending at least an hour a week doing something related to my job search.
The starting date for the challenge will be Friday, September 23rd. If you are willing to participate, please leave a comment below stating what your challenge will be. I’ll have a weekly update post where you can leave a comment with your progress or lack of progress and I’ll respond with some support/encouragement to everyone who is playing along. I hope some of you will consider joining in and look forward to hearing what your goals are.
Well, I did not get out the decorations and I did not finish my list. I just do not have the Christmas spirit this year. There is lots to do and I should get off the computer and do it. Instead I think I will take a nap. Perhaps I will be refreshed and ready to do something after that.
Hope you are doing better with your list.
I did a bit of decluttering in the garden today and yesterday. Got rid of some leaves, cut back some of the irises, covered one of the veggie beds and of course pulled some more weeds.
I did a little bit of organizing this week and have been walking a bit more as well. I’ll find out tomorrow if the walking has done anything for my weight.
This week I would like to get the Christmas decorations out and create the final list of presents that I still need to get.
What’s on your list for this week?
Made a little bit of progress with the organizing/decluttering. Did get rid of a big bag of trash and some stuff went into different areas. Will keep it up for another week – probably won’t make as much progress with it now that the holiday preparations are beginning. We’ll see what I can do. Every little bit will help.
Haven’t done anything about exercising. Just getting a walk a day and trying to keep moving throughout the day. Hopefully I will do better because I will need all the help I can get with the holidays.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone.
I have managed to keep up with the decluttering and organizing. I have completed 2 rooms and have done some work in 3 others. The next big task will be to keep them that way! I am continuing on with this for at least another week.
Tried out 2 more exercise videos but they just didn’t do it for me. I’m still looking and hopefully I’ll find something good.
What is on your list for this week?
Goals from last week: do some type of exercise to replace zumba –not done
– daily – 15 minutes of decluttering/organizing – done – didn’t get 15 minutes every day but did average 15 minutes for the week. There have been other daily tasks to add in addition to this but my life has not been cooperating.
We had a death in the family, activities at church, a sick child, 2 children home because of election day, helping to deliver popcorn with my son and the normal procrastination and laziness to deal with this past week. I am going to continue to do the daily 15 minute task and try to catch up with some of the other tasks in the challenge.
What have you done this week?
I did some work in the garden but not as much as I should have. I just couldn’t get motivated to stay out there last week when it was nice and then of course this week so far has been, cold, wet and windy.
Looked for a Zumba DVD but they are all checked out of the library. I don’t want to buy one without checking it out first. Did try a different type of workout DVD but it made my knees hurt so I’m still looking for something.
If you have been reading this blog for any length of time you have surely noticed that I lack self-discipline. So, when I read at SuperSweetLife.com about the 21 Day Self-discipline Challenge, I decided to give it a try. They are using Crystal Paine’s book 21 Days to a More Disciplined Life as a guideline to follow.
For the first day we are to pick out a small task that we have been avoiding and just get it done. I chose to put my credit card receipts in order so I can check them off with my statements. That went faily quickly as I knew it would. Why is it that I know it won’t take that long but I avoid, avoid and avoid??
The other assignment is to pick a “mega-project” and make a plan for completing it. Then do just the first step in the plan. Like so many of the others who are doing the challenge, I had some difficulty narrowing down my choices because there are so many undone projects around here.
In the end I decided to do something about the organization/clutter in this house. I am committing to at least 15 minutes of daily organizing and/or decluttering of the house. Today I started by going through some of the stuff on my desk. I made a dent but still have more to do.
Next week’s to dos are to spend 15 minutes on my “mega-project” and to do some type of weekly exercise to replace Zumba.
