Measure Up Monday – time to see how I am doing on my goals

I have been doing a lot of reading lately and am happy to say that I have read  112 books so far this year.  It breaks down to 22 from my library wish list, 41 from shelves and 49 picked up at the library while waiting for my kids to get their stuff.

Now the next big task is to get them entered into the 1500 Book Challenge list. Hopefully I can work on that in the next week or so.

What have you read lately? Leave me a comment and let me know.

Measure Up Monday – time to look and see how I’m doing on my goals

The first quarter of 2014 is over and let’s see where I am with my reading goal.  The goal is to read 150 books – 50 from my stash of books, 50 from my library wishlist and 50 from other sources.  So far I have read 49 books with 10 coming from my stash, 4 from my library wishlist and 35 coming off the shelves of the library as I browse while waiting for my children to get their books.

I do currently have 5 books from my wishlist  that I will be reading this month and I need to add a few from my stash as well. I should stop browsing the shelves and just take a book to read while I wait at the library. We’ll see if I can manage that.

Have you read anything good lately?

402 Down and 1098 To Go

Measure Up Monday – a semi-regular feature where I update the progress of  one or more of my goals.

I located yet another tiny piece of paper with some books I’ve  read and  just spent half an hour updating my  list and hopefully it is now up to date. When I started this blog one of my 6 goals was to read 1500 books, so far I have read 402.

So far this year I have read 42 books – not a pace I am likely to keep up but a good dent in my goal for the year. I  have read a lot of fiction lately. I tend to read those books in one sitting because I hate be kept hanging – I want to know how it ends and I want to know now! This is good for my reading goal but not so good for my fitness goals, the cleanliness of my house or the nutrition of my family.

I will try to get a review post up later this week although it will just include my non-fiction reads because there are just too many fiction books and it is harder for me to review them.

What have you been reading lately? How do you fit reading into your life? I’d love to hear from you and perhaps get some new ideas.

MUMday – 349 down,1151 to go

Measure up Monday – how am I doing on my goals

I found another sheet of book titles I needed to add to my list. I have now read 349 books on my way to my goal of 1500 before I turn 60.  To keep me on track I need to read 128 books per year which is certainly doable.  For next year, I’m thinking about a goal of 150 books. I’d like to read 50 from my stockpile of books, 50 from the wishlist I created at the library and the last 50 could be books I learn about or a mix of the first two categories. We’ll see how it goes.

November Goals

1. Pack up all the yard sale stuff and have it picked up by a charity – made a start on this and got 7 boxes of stuff out the door and on a truck to  charity

2. Sort, organize and store my fabric

3. Go through the year to date tax receipts and get them organized – have all my receipts in one place, just need to get them organized by category, organized

4. Create a master list of to dos

Well, November was not a productive month. I did get one goal completely done but the other 3 still have a long way to go.  I’m not setting any goals other than Christmas related stuff this month.  That will be enough to keep me busy.  I will be trying to think of some things to shoot for next year but I’m not going to stress about it. What gets done gets done and if I’m setting 2014 goals when I go on retreat mid-January that will be okay with me. I’m going to try and enjoy the rest of this year.

I am making progress but need to pick up the pace if I’m going to get it done by the end of the month.

Have you made any progress on your goals? How do you keep yourself motivated? I’d love to hear what your thoughts are. Don’t be shy – leave a comment.

Not much to report at this time. I haven’t done a thing on the goals I listed for this month. I have been in a bit of a funk and have just not felt like doing much of anything lately. Need to get my act together and get cracking on the things that are piling up around here. In fact that is what I am going to do right now.  Check back next Monday to see if I’m successful or not.

November News

For the month of November I am continuing my 31 day challenge to complete some of the things that need done around here.  I will update my progress on MUMday – my day where  I try to update my progress towards my goals.  I’ve thought about things and have come up with the following list:

1. Pack up all the yard sale stuff and have it picked up by a charity

2. Sort, organize and store my fabric

3. Go through the year to date tax receipts and get them organized

4. Create a master list of to dos – I have tons of little slips of paper(like I had with my books) with ideas of sewing/quilting/knitting/crafting ideas, recipes to try, household projects to be done, dream trip information, etc all over my house. I want to try and get them all together in one spot. First I’m going to gather them all together and then I need to decide how/where to keep them all. Here’s where I need your help – what system do you use to keep track of things? Anyone have any suggestions for me? I’d love to hear what has worked or hasn’t worked for you.

Measure up Monday – How am I doing on my goals??

This week I’m looking at my progress towards 5 million steps by December 31, 2012 and the picture is not pretty. I have gone a total of 3,670, 719 steps so far this year. That averages out to 12154 steps per day. It also means that I have 1,329,281 steps to go. With only 63 days left in the year, I would need to do 21,200 steps everyday to make my target. I just don’t think that will happen.

When I started, I figured that January, February, November and December would have low totals due to weather restraints. I thought I would be able to make up for it with longer daily walks through spring, summer and fall. Instead I injured my knee during boot camp which set me back and I haven’t been able to  recover any ground.

I can definitely make it to 4 million and I think I can hit 4.5 million. I will keep trying to hit 5 million but it will be a stretch to get there. It was a stetch goal for me and overall I am pleased with my progress. I know I would have done much less without the challenge.

I may try to do some mall walking now that the weather is getting so yucky. I don’t like to do that – it means unnecessary driving and it brings temptation into my day – but I do like the way I feel after I walk.

Hope you manage to stay warm and safe during this stormy time.

Measure Up Monday  – How am I doing on my goals??

Just received information on the annual UFO Retreat. I have been there the last two years. It is mostly filled with quilters and scrapbookers but there are few others who come.  For the past two years I have taken my knitting, some books and a bunch of hopes and dreams. I try to make a plan for the rest of the year in between knitting some dish cloths and reading some good books.

This year I may be brave enough to take some quilting along – we’ll see how I feel. It is still two months away so I have lots of time to make a decision. I really enjoy this weekend away but I would like to try for something a bit longer – maybe in the summer of 2013 or 2014. Would love to do something in the  New Mexico/Arizona area  – that would probably be better in the winter.
