Declutter 2020 Update

It has been awhile since I posted what I’ve been decluttering so here goes

Items trashed – total of 35

  1.  3 boy’s tees – stained, holey
  2.  3 baby items also stained and/or holey
  3.  10 quilt pattern/instructions torn from magazines – I’ll probably never have the skill or time to do them, so out they go
  4.  guest book from my mom’s funeral- neither my sister or I feel the need to keep it
  5.  bag of confectioner’s sugar that expired in 2016
  6.  bag of farro risotto that expired 2018
  7.  guest book from my grandfather’s funeral – see above
  8.  broken mini umbrella
  9.  binder that was coming apart
  10.  11 candle stubs
  11.  candle holder made by my son -had been keeping because he made it but it didn’t actually work as a candle holder so out it went
  12. moth eaten felt crown made by daughter

Items recycled – 17

  1.  1 travel magazine with pictures torn out
  2.  year’s worth of payroll reports that I do not need to keep anymore
  3.  10 dead batteries
  4.  5 cards from my hubby

Items donated – 16

  1. 4 photo frames
  2.  1 quilt pattern I bought but now know I will never make – way too many little pieces
  3.  2 guest books
  4.   1 wooden puzzle
  5.  2 queen size flat sheets
  6.  1 photo album
  7.  1 oven mitt with a Christmas design- just uncomfortable to use
  8.  2 books to my church library
  9.  1 skating medal my daughter doesn’t want
  10.  1 silver tree decoration

Other –  4 My daughter took a school bus photo album to use as her daughter grows. She also took three calendars that we had used as a daily journal when she was younger.

That makes 72 plus the original 14 gives me a total of 86. Feeling pretty sure that I will reach my goal of 100 by the end of this challenge. Are you decluttering? How is it going for you? Leave a comment and let me know

Hundred Day Challenge Update 5

Hard to believe that I am almost halfway through this challenge. I’ve made progress in some areas and need to do a better job in some areas. Here’s how things look today

  1. Declutter 100 items – I’ve gotten rid of 76 things so far. I want to update the list but haven’t made the time to do it so far.
  2.  Stay within the budget – not doing so well here with the car, the water heater and signing up for a CSA. We are trying to make better choices with our food but that comes with a larger price tag. Need to figure out some ways to lower other costs to compensate.
  3.  Read 15 books,  5 from the TBR lists – I’ve read 3 from the TBR list and a total of 13 so far
  4.  Exercise for at least 10 minutes six/week – only 3 of the 6 weeks so far.  I’ve faithfully ridden the bike every Monday through Friday but the weekends are difficult. Between the bad weather and a lack of motivation to get myself and my granddaughter out of the house, I haven’t been able to check off that last day. Need to make it a priority and just do it.
  5.  Spend one hour/week working on a hobby – I’m doing okay although I haven’t been focused on the quilt like I had planned. I’ve met the goal five of the six weeks so far. I made a wreath, did some work on the quilt, did some garden planning and went through a ton of scrapbooking stuff.

Overall I feel pretty good about things and am hopeful that I will be able to finish strong. Have you made progress on your goals this year? Please share – I’d love to hear from you
